At the table I would bid 3NT so 3NT. I think most good players will try 3NT here.

I think it depends on how you interpret taking a free bid after 2♠. Since to me it implies extras, I'll bid 3♣. Partner has room to right-side 3NT with a 3♠ call and I'd like to let him know about the extra length in the club suit. In other words, I expect partner to pass on auctions like this if there is nothing new to say about his/her hand.
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy - but it might improve my bridge.

3N could work really well, but thrunt bidders are banking on the Cs coming in. If pd has a stiff and no S stopper you are going down in '00s.
Partner won't pull with a stiff or a void as he will expect the C suit to be solid. 3C for me.

Comment here seems appropriate. Isn't this auction very much like the following:
1C-1S-1N-2S-3C?

Obviously, this is competitive only, yet it still carries the message that 3N is playable if pard can see 8/9 quick ones: Axx, Axx, xxxxx, Qx?

So in the hand in question, does 3C carry this same kind of message - only this time if pard can see 9 quick ones he'll need to bid 3S?

xxx, KJx, KQJxx, xx is a pass; xx, xxxx, AKJxx, Qx is a 3S bid?

3♣ for me - P only made a 1 round force and I really don't have enough to play 3NT

If P bids 3♠ I then will bid the 3NT and over 3♦ will bid 4♣ as then it's looking like a misfit :lol:

That reminds me of a cute, true story from my bridge centre about 15 years ago. Grete and Olga were regular partners, both in their late 70's and both rather cautious bidders. Especially Olga. If she bid once, she had very good cards, if she bid twice, she had a powerhouse.

On one deal (Grete dealer), the bidding went:

1♣ - 1♥
2♣ - pass

Now you already know that Olga had great cards, since she bid once. So how could anyone be surprised when she tabled

Grete was in shock when she saw dummy, I must say, with ♥754 almost falling on to her lap, and the following views were exchanged:

"Bu-uu-t Olga dear, honestly, could you not have rebid your hearts? It's a very nice suit".

"Well, maybe, but you never supported them, did you? Could easily be a misfit, so I thought it would be best to stay low".

The problem is that on the first hand (aside from partner holding 2 of our cards) 3N is an excellent contract given that they will likely lead a spade (and even if they dont) and on the second one if they defend accurately they will beat 3N. But if you add the heart ten in the second one they probably can't beat 3N. Anyways, i'd like to be in 3N in all 3 cases, so I would bid it. Of course it could easily work badly and end up down 5 vul.
