Clear double for me, as it does not deny four spades in my world.

dbl to show values

P probably has quite a decent hand over there and our 3 card heart
holding makes it even more likely they are extremely shirt. While a
4s bid attempts to choose a strain/level I think it is very unclear
that either is correct with this holding. The 5 level should always
be very safe and 4s may all too easily cause us to miss a slam.

What would you do with Qxxxxx xxx xxx x after this bidding?? ill bet
4s is close to top of the list and would rate to be the best way to go
since slam chances appear to be minimal at best. Using splinter theory
in reverse shows our combined minimum holding is worth the 5 level so
investing 1 level to find the right strain and level seems like a good
idea.

I usually double with this shape but I will bid 4 on this one. Let them make the last decision. It is not easy to let your opponents play 4 vulnerable when your side has a 9-10 card fit and nun vuln. I like my values outside the suit. I am aware pd does not have to hold 4 card spades.

4. Wish there were a way to show controls with spades.

It would be shocking if South has more than one heart. A void in hearts is very possible.

Thx all. Full hand:

I chose 4, influenced by the colors and hoping for at least a singleton across. As it happens, we were being jerked around... lol. Still not sure whether my choice was right or wrong, but dbl would have worked better this time.

Good thing is rightie didn't double. RESPECT

Other table managed to bid.. 3NT :) I ended -1, but even funnier is the fact that 4 makes double dummy(!!!!!)

IMO 4 = 10, Double = 9. Please set polls to "public" in future so we can see who votes for what.
