IMPs scoring, r/r. Spot cards are approximate.

Edit: bonus question, is Pass now forcing?

IMO Pass = 10, Double = 9, 7 = 5.
It's not clear who's sacrificing against whom. But you've got a trick more than you promised.

FWIW, I usually get these wrong.

Agree with 5, I vote for X as you've got more defence than you've shown

People overcaling vulnerable 2cl (or even majors) with 7+ losers hand. What is the range of 2cl overcal? Is 2h forcing? Are there 50 points in package ?

2C is generally 10-16, 2H is forcing.

 I am not sure, but since I preempted and they had a strong auction ours is not the classic "voluntarily bid game" most people cite as the basis for making my pass forcing.

I pass. I don't feel confidence in my judgement in such auctions, though.

I have a strong opinion about this one, at least: no.

At the colours, I think pass is forcing.

I would pass, unless I am playing with the Lone Ranger, who may feel that he has a right to bid 7.

I don't think they are making...partner has at least one card outside of clubs, and our short diamonds suggest that declarer may be losing a trick there.

One could argue that I dhould therefore double, but if I am wrong, and the other side defends undoubled, I have lost 6 imps, with no redouble, while if I am right, I have gained 3 imps. I don't like those odds. And if at the other table our teammates defend some number of clubs, or miss slam, then whether they go plus or not, the upside from double is probably very low indeed if we beat it one trick.

In short, the opps have made the last guess....and good opps tend to bid slam here as a 2-way shot....maybe it will make and maybe, when it doesn't, the opps save.

As to the bonus question, my first reaction is that surely the question is itself a joke. I don't see what part of this auction suggested that this was a forcing situation.

i'll double it. partner might have been planning to bid on if we can't act.

1 defensive trick is almost 1 more than p is going to be expecting from a 5 bid. he surely won't place us with 2 tricks.

In a moment of madness, I bid 7C :P. It was working out rather well until partner carved up the play (though its a good beginner problem), full hands and play below (approximate, can't find hand records):

Yes East bid 5H on a balanced minimum with 3 card support....

I either pass or double, whichever is least encouraging (i.e. dbl in standard methods).

Nah what are you smoking Wayne, pass forcing?

I assumed pass wasn't forcing, Nige's reply got me thinking.... I didn't add the other question until I had 3 or 4 replies.
