In our experience, this natural jump rebid is frequent and effective.

Is it an agreement you have with your regular partner(s) that 1m-1M-3m = 6cm & 3cM? What do you rebid when you have the normal 3m hand: with a good hand and 6cm and no 6cM?
With a normal misfit 3m rebid, you could manufacture a second suit. For us, however, a 2N jump rebid shows the normal misfit 3m hand (because we open something else with 18-19 flat).

Even I'd rebid 2♦ on this one
Change the hand slightly to
♠ J65
♥ A98
♦ AQT983
♣ Q
and the problem becomes a bit more interesting
(Here I might very well raise hearts)

I usually err on the side of raising p with three card support, mainly driven by the reasoning that p plays them better than I do, but with this diamond suit even I might manage to come close to making a 2 level contract.

Other reasons to bid 2♥ are state of the match when you want to swing or in a speedball when a trip to the fridge is in order.
2♦ is my choice, especially when under time pressure as I tend to concede the rest faster. Amazing how often that gets rejected.
I didn't vote cause the technical reasons are secondary to me.

I would bid 2D to show my good six card diamond suit.
2D may not be the best contract if partner has a weak hand and five hearts.
However, slam pays a bonus so if partner has a stronger hand that can move on it is important to describe the best feature in your hand so partner can visualize six diamond tricks when he holds something useful in the suit. Also, avoiding bidding 2H doesn't raise partner's expectations on your heart support.

It's still a 2♦ call, but move around some honors and I'd raise hearts.

I agree that the changes are interesting, but I don't understand how this hand illustrates that, since it is still pretty much considered lunacy to bid anything other than 2D on this hand heh.
