After 2M - Dble - 2NT?
or;
2♥ - 2♠ - 2NT?
Do you use 2NT as natural or a conventional asking bid?

2M - dbl - ?
McCabe is frequently played here. A new suit is lead directing and shows some support.
A redouble says: "bid the next strain (including 2N), I'm running from 2M".
A jump shift is either played as fitted or just lead directing and more support. Its more common as a lead director in my neck of the woods.
2N can be your usual system, but I think in the original McCabe this is a shortness ask.
2M - (2Y) - ?
Double is penalty.
2N should be the same as if they passed, but I suppose you could play Lebensohl here.
New suits are forcing.

I usually play it as the normal conventional asking bid, but only because it's not high up my list of things to discuss. I can't remember ever bidding it, and I don't think I'm likely to want to very often. Apart from the reduced likelihood of holding a suitable hand, I'd also be more inclined to bid game and leave them to guess whether to save.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

Expanding 'cardsharp':
X->clubs but with 3DT if max DT 2H wants to try for penalty bonanza;
3C->diamonds, likely a 'help suit' for raise or 3NT;
3D-> H-raise with 3DT so partner can judge what to do higher up;
3H, 4H LOTT raises with no DT suggestion;
Leaving 2NT for spade stops as partner's 1st message asks top 2H for 3NT.
