Here is another matchpoint problem from today:

AQJ98x
Q
Kx
QJxx

Red against white.

1S - (pass) - 1NT - (pass)
2C - (Dbl) - 2S - (2NT)
??

2NT is alerted as two places to play. What's your call?
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

Jlall can yell at me if he wants but I disagree with 2, strongly prefer 2 with six good ones. In this problem I would double because I want to do something but not commit us to anything.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

I wish I could apply that strategy to my non-bridge life as well :)

More seriously, I don't like x with this hand. Sounds more defensive than the hand really is. I would prefer either pass or 3. If x means two-and-a-half spades then I am fine with x.
The world would be such a happy place, if only everyone played Acol :) --- TramTicket

I would x, pull 3x to 3, pass 3x, and bid 3 over anything undoubled.

I can live with 2 but would bid 2 myself.

I would pass, if partner can crack them that's good and if not I will balance with 3S.

So do I. Why would he be yelling?
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn
