That partner didn't make a slam try may suggest that they are on the same wavelength. I am not suggesting that it is fishy, just that it's important to have a good partnership understanding so that if the player in direct seat is allowed to bid lightly, partner should not hang them. It may be a reasonable style at favourable.

There's also the rule that the partner who is short in their suit is the one who should stretch.

Thanks Helene, I like this approach.
The agreements I have with my holiday bridge partners are nowhere near this depth but it will make for a good discussion with my regular partner.

Bidding here is probably anti-percentage, but it's not a ridiculous thought. The fact that 4H is game really does change the considerations.

For sure I would bid with the spade and diamond queens, so I think partner is clearly right to let the hand rest in game. There are too many possible holes to make looking for 6 the right action.

Just quibbling, but it's the dance itself that silences them, not the legal consequences of correction to 4♠.
And as TD I wouldn't bother asking players about LAs because they aren't going to bid beyond 5♠, with 11 tricks already made at the table.
South gets a note in my black book, or if already noted for such antics gets a penalty under 72B1. But no adjustment that I can see.
