Obviously Rex and Jay did not agree. So we are asking the forum for their opinions.

Thanks, Wrecksvee AKA Rex

I think 2 is enough. If the auction continues (likely), I can bid hearts later, giving a good picture.

2.5 would be perfect for this hand - you have the 'dummy points' for 3 but only the HCP for 2. I follow the rule that generally responder should be the aggressive one at teams, so I will go low and bid 2. Over any excuse by partner, I will bid the game.

2 for me. We only have the "dummy points" for 3 if we count KQ bare as 6 points. That's a bit rich for me and it is not like our hearts are an automatic source of tricks here. If you do bid 3 on hands like this then you are basically saying that your ranges are 12-14/15-17(18), which imho is just plain wrong. You have an invite available over 2 so this range should be larger. It is not dissimilar from what lalldonn was talking about in the 2m/3m thread.

Is it Teams btw? I do not see it mentioned anywhere in the OP.

The hand was played in a team match. At the time I did not consider "dummy points" but bid 3!S based on 6 LTC. Partner's hand was something like Kxxx xx xxx AQxx. So he bid 4.

broke 1-4, x KQ8x, and were 3-2 and the contract failed.

2S. It feels like I need just a touch more to go to 3S.
