Do we double here ? How close is it ?
I doubled, it didn't matter but I still wonder.

Definitely. I would if one of the kings was a small card.

I know it's matchpoints, and we're talking about a double, but it's not what I think a "matchpoint double" is.

I am quite surprised by this. Do you all still double if it was red all ? What about red vs green ?
I thought it's close as partner rarely has KJxxx/Kxxxxx (could have doubled) and usually we are providing them with free information as they are on their way to 3N/4S.

Usually? We have 14 points. Does our partner usually have about 0 points?

You have a 14-count. They are usually on their way to playing 2S.
edit: oops, beaten to the punch by the lalldonn edit.

I'd double at any vulnerability and any form of scoring.

It's not particularly likely that they're on their way to game. Partner and LHO have at most 11 points between them. Unless LHO has nearly all of them, he's about to pass 2.

The point of acting now is to contest the partscore: we'd rather play three of a suit than defend 2 undoubled, and we'd rather defend 3 than 2.

That's an argument for bidding 2NT rather than double, so that we get to a real fit opposite 4=4=2=3 or 3=4=3=3. However, I don't agree that partner would double with all such holdings - he needs good pips as well, especially as he probably has no side entry.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

Haha, I came to post exactly that, then I remembered that "I" had already posted in this thread, and saw that you had posted the exact same thing.
