A small club is led to the 3, 9 and Q.

How do you play the trumps?
Would you have bid differently?
Should North go back to hearts instead of passing 6?

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

Besides playing for fun, most people also like to play bridge to win

I think I'm cashing A and spurning the hook. Would kick myself if they win the K and E ruffs the 2nd .

I'm ok with the bidding, Only query is to the difference between passing 5 (has to be forcing) and bidding 6 over the X and bidding 6 over 5.

Ace and another diamond would work if trumps were 3-1 - ruff the spade return, draw a third trump, then cash A, which lets us pick up 5-0 hearts in either hand.

However, if diamonds are 0=4, hearts probably won't break either - LHO will be 2407. RHO will force me and the hand will fall apart.

LHO has bid 5 with a mediocre seven-card suit, so a 7-4 actually seems pretty likely. Hence I win trick one with 10 and run 10.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

I'd place West with something like 4 ? ? 7.

I'd play Ace and Queen of diamonds and take it from there. East can't then get a club ruff.
