I guess I open 1C, hating it. Over 4S X P I guess I try 4NT. If partner bids 5D I try 5H, if 5C I raise to 6.

This. I don't think I can describe this hand no matter what after I open 1 or 2, and while 1 isn't much better it will at least give partner room for optimism after I show a 2 suiter.
I once yelled at my partner for discarding the 'wrong' card when he was subjected to a squeeze that I allowed by giving the wrong count with too high a card. Now he's allowed to pitch aces when the opponents have the king in the dummy. At trick 2. When he could have followed suit. And blame me.
