Whatever the scoring method and vulnerability, IMO 5 = 10, _X = 8, _P = 5, 6 = 3.

5 for me, even at this vulnerability and any scoring type.

I am not bidding 6,no way .Yes we may make slam perhaps, but sometimes preempts win. Pd may have started with a very shapely weak take out dbl too, which probably makes DBL now a better bid if so, but i will stick with my 5 bid. :) Double is my 2nd choice.

I would bid 5S at any form of the game. 6 is off the planet.

Your partner had quite a minimum double, tough luck.

Yes, but partner's minimum double is enough for +800 on defence. I'm not convinced this was bad luck though I could be resulting having seen the full hand.

Clearly against this particular East it is right to double.

5 is rather obvious, I think. No way I'm doubling 5.

Tough luck the dbl was probably as light as it gets.

Does your partner have a warning on his card - "Takeout doubles may be made with utter rubbish?"

I do think 5S is an easy choice. Dble is not my preference regardless of result.

I do not want to yell about this t/o dble. a bit skinny yes, but not at all so poor for any aggressive partnership. To see calling this rubbish is a bit too much. Facing the same hand, but alter the K of H to the ace and that is going to be enough to call it an ok t/o dble? Are n/s then not on a hook for a make?
