Opened 1♠ made 4 (as did most of the field except one south who bid 4♠) when North had singleton K♠ and spades broke 3-3. Should you really chance 2♣- doesn't need much for 4♠ or even 5♦?

Easy 1♠ opener. The fact that partner produced the most useful card he could have and game was still pretty poor should tell you something.

Agree easy 1♠, but pd might have had ♠Kx and out which would have made game pretty good.

Occasionally we miss out on games, but so does almost everybody else.
