Scoring: IMP

Hello, this is the thirteenth thread in the big poll. Please provide the most probable result after East opens 1 and you either

a) pass
b) double
c) bid 2.

Please do a cross imp result like:

a-b:
a-c:
b-c:

(a-c means the imps a wins over c)

Thanks :) Please try to do all 30 hands also :)

a: 1-P-1N-P-3-P-4. +50.
b: 1-X-1N-2-3-P-4. +50.
c: 1-2-X-3-4. +50.

a-b: 0 IMPs
a-c: 0 IMPs
b-c: 0 IMPs

This is sort of an interesting play/defense problem with some squeeze possibilities, but I think down one is the likely result on reasonable defense. BTW I would've opened 4 here.

Certainly reasonable -- how would you describe the parameters for a (heavy) 4S open?

I may open 4 more than most. My parameters are basically 7 with three of the top five honors (or 8 with a possibly slightly weaker suit), and up to about 14 hcp.

the 3 raise provides a good chance of leading A. 2 is clearly the worst call here. I think it will be flat normally, but not in the long run.

a.
1-1NT
2-3
4-end

west upgraded and got lucky

b.
1-x-1NT*-p
3-p-4

now west has shown some life so east jumped to 3.

c.
1-2-x-p
3-p-4.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

I'm more conservative, but with the same net result: flat, but at -140 in 3
