What is typical here is that you don't have an agreement with partner. I would assume that XX is an offer to play and pass it (I have a very suitable hand). However, it could be that partner is on a different wavelength and you go for 1600. It will at least make for an instant agreement and a good story.

You've got my sympathies...I don't fine the redouble a particularly useful or descriptive bid here.

I agree with the passers. Redouble is nonsense; pass is the only sensible bid because it shows 22-24 balanced. Then you take it out into 2♠.

Switch the K and Q of spades, for example, and you might have made anyway! So just imagine how many overtricks you would make if partner had his redouble.

Yes..xx is very bad here, and passing would show the balanced big hand and here you get to take advantage of the opp's x and stay below 2NT.
