4 losers? I'm torn between 2, 1 and 4. Probably too good for 4 and partner might yell at me for 2 so I guess 1 it is.

1 and a BIG WTP

30 ZARs with no upgrades so surely you can't pass .. no rebid issues and the world doesn't have enuf drugs for 2

Those who preempt ..I, as usual ask, what are you preempting against ? and hope you miss a black suit slam, preferably a grand.

1, non-problem. I am not sure what is dumber, opening this 2 strong artificial or opening this 2 11-15 with 6+.

I don't think 4S is the worst bid ever, but it's pretty bad. I think 1S is clear.

1S. Once in awhile I'll open hands like this 4S. Its not as sick as people make it out to be.

3C regardless of whether I am playing SAYC or 2/1. Don't get too caught up in HCP when you are 6-6, just bid your hand out.

1 club , then rebid spades a few times ; imperative in my view for pt to understand that only black values are any good with my hand

if you open a spade and next hand bids 4 red and pt doubles , what then ?
open a club and rebid spades at whatever is required then pt has the picture

Definitely open 1S and rebid 3C. Then 4C, and then 4S if room. Rebidding 2S with this 6-6 hand is criminal.

If I open 1C and then bid spades a couple of times my partner will expect me to hold longer clubs then spades.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

The old discussion what to do with spades and clubs again?

I really don't care much about the opening bid here, but I would bid 1 Club with my partner and 1 Spade with pick ups, because they don't know that I will do so with clubs as long as spades.

But I will rebid my second suit as long as possible, no way that we or they play NT or a red suit below the 5. level. :(
Kind Regards

Roland

While this certainly has playing sterngth, why is 4 so terrible?
The opps may have a save in 4 or 5 or 5.
4 is likely to make. 6 spades/clubs requires a lot from pard.

I would bid 4 expecting to make.
This also prevents the opps from finding a save.
And they may have a slam too, though unlikely.

>Those who preempt ..I, as usual ask, what are you preempting against ? and hope you miss a black suit slam, preferably a grand.

Opps may have 9 or 10 cards in a red suit and bid it.

4S is not terrible at all. However I would open 1S and rebid 2S, not 3C as the hand lacks the high card strength for that.

Open 1 then bid clubs.

I expected to see most posters take the normal action of opening 1 and rebidding clubs, with a handful of 4 openers as the only variation. Wrong again. :)
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.
