The greedy defense is to play 3 rounds of spades. However, this would give away the contract if declarer has both red aces and Kx of clubs. In this case we'd have to switch to hearts before our club ace is knocked out.
Fortunately we can cash two high spades to see what signal partner plays. If partner plays a high heart or a low club (assuming standard carding) then I switch. If not then I continue with a third spade.

Very good point, Han. I doubt I would have been able to visualize declarer's perfect hand at the table, though obviously dummy's long clubs are a concern.
Again, maybe this problem was too easy for this forum.
At the table, my partner (I was North) ducked the first round, with little thought. I wonder what he was thinking when declarer played:
- Ace/King of hearts
- low heart, ruffed in dummy
- king of diamonds
- low diamond to the ace in declarer's hand
- low diamond, ruffed in dummy
Defense collected a diamond, club and 2 spades for down 1. Down 3 was there for the taking, though.

Like Han's idea. Wish I could say that was intuitively obvious. Wasn't for me tho. Maybe next time.
