A trump lead could mean that the hand is not as good as it appears.

dunno how to play 4 card majors - JLOGIC
True but I know Standard American and what better reason could I have for playing Precision? - Hideous Hog

But I've got to agree with 2♠.

We are all connected to each other biologically, to the Earth chemically, and to the rest of the universe atomically.
We're in the universe, and the universe is in us.

Given the description of the other calls,
this is a wtp?
With kind regards
Marlowe.

I would be surprised, if someone had issues with a 2D bid,
after all, you are bidding your 6 card suit.
With kind regards

If 2 ♦ is terrible, what is 2 NT, 3 NT, 4 Spade or 6 NT?
Okay not bridge, but which nice words do you have for these? (I need some vocabulary in this area)
Surely 2 Spade is the wtp bid, but don´t hang someone for repeating a sixcard suit.

There isn't really a moral from the hand, as all routes (except 3♠, which I only threw in to make 2♥ look less ridiculous) should lead to 3NT. My 2♥ bid didn't lead to 3NT, but it should have done

I won't hang anyone for it, I just think the bid is terrible.

This hand is anywhere from poor (imagine Jxxx Kxx xx Qxxx opposite) to huge.
Its value really depends on how well partner's hand meshes, and what rather than where his values are (the same thing, I suppose).
I suppose I can construct hands on which 2♦ misses a decent game: partner has 5 chunky spades, the suit splits and nothing bad happens and yet he has to pass 2♦
But there seem to me to be a large number of hands on which 2♠ gives up, effectively, on a diamond slam... and why can't our 6 card suit work well as trump?
We will rarely miss game via 2♦, and, if we get by this round, our bidding choices should be easy. In the meantime, even if we have some form of relay available over 2♠, we are not going to be coming close to describing our hand in terms of its playability in diamonds.
So count me in for 2♦, happily.
Over partner's rebids:
2♥ I bid 3♠
2♠ I bid 4♠ (or 4♣ if I feel lucky)
2N I bid 3♠
3♣ 3♠
3♦ 3♠
etc
Other than the minor risk of pass (I hold 12 hcp and a void and the opps are silent, so give me a break

Help

1♦ from you, 1♠ from partner.
What will it be?
2♦ when your hand is massive in support of a five-card spade suit?
2♥, reverse on a 12-count?
2♠, for which your most likely hand-type is a balanced hand with three-card support (we raise on any bal hand with three spades unless 3343)?
3♠ with only three-card support?
