I bid 2♠.
The choices as I see them are 2♦, planning to bid clubs later on, or bidding 3m, showing your values (but clubs, your better suit? or diamonds, perhaps allowing you to bid clubs later on?), or 2♠.
2♠ has some preemptive effect too, in case the opponents have a contract in hearts.

Staying low was the key, 5m is a decent contract, but ♦K is the only card for RHO.
3♦ encouraged partner to try 3NT wich ended up in -300 for a 9 IMP loss

Bidding 2♠ is far too likely to get us too high.
Bidding 3minor just takes away useful bidding space and will cram the auction if partner has the strong heart hand I am worried about.
I believe that the USA currently hold only the World Championship For People Who Still Bid Like Your Auntie Gladys - dburn
dunno how to play 4 card majors - JLOGIC
True but I know Standard American and what better reason could I have for playing Precision? - Hideous Hog

Suspicious hand where pard is likely to be able to double and then bid hearts freely later. Otherwise a misfit is in the offing where opponents have nine hearts split 4-0. Time to take it slow and easy. Plenty of time to catch up if we have good game/slam prospects.

When 2 Diamond denies such a strong hand, you must bid stronger.
I vote 3 Diamond.

Well in fairness, if you bid 3♦ then you are surely pulling 3NT to 4♣.
