If my style was to rebid 1N I would probably bid

In another partnership where 3D=slam try:

1N = 11+ - 14, 2♣ = Stayman
2♠ = 4+ Spades, 13-14, 3N = to play

Playing what passes for "Standard"

1♦ - 1♥
2♥ - 2♠
2N - 3♦
3♠ - 4♦ or 4♥


1♦ = "normal", 1♥ = normal
2♥ = balanced minimum raise, 2♠ = art. forcing [2♠ and 2N are inverted]
3♣ = temporizing, 3♦ = 4+ Diamonds, suggests uncertainty about 3N
3♠ = Spade stopper, no Club stopper

Not sure about the last bid. Hard to be objective looking at both hands

I think that this is actually an easy hand to get to anything but 3NT, as long as 14 does not fall into your 1NT opening range in which case it's just unlucky.

I would bid

1♠ 3♦

even with a max I think south has too many losers to bid over 3♦.

So far you are the only one with an above avg BW score. :lol: But still far from a top but alot better than I did. I will post all the BW scores in a few days.

1NT (14-16)-2♠ (bad doubleton or singelton ♣, almost 100% GF no SI)
2NT (forced)- 3♣ (2/1 ♣)
3♦ (relay) - 3♠ (4-3-4-2)
Then you can bid 4♥/♠ if you feel like it. More normal would be 4♦ which implies no major fit and can be passed if responder have a minimum hand.

1♥

If north now decide to rebid 1NT (yeah, it's possible) we'll play there.
If north rebids 2NT south raises to 3NT.

3N probably one or two off. I wouldn't check for the club guard no matter which system I played.

3♥ would not be forcing but responder might go on with a presumed double fit and pointy cards.

I think if I chose this route I would down-grade and just bid 3♥.

As an aside, I maybe messing this one up, but playing the method i picked off glen ashton's webpage (bridgematters) I think you might avoid 3NT even if you open 1NT with 14.. possible auction

1N - 2C
2S - 3C*
3D - 3S*
4H

3C = transfer showing diamonds -- both opponents now had a chance to dbl clubs, if they do, you stay out of 3NT, if they don't maybe they will lead something else
3D = accept transfer
3S = 3♠, 4♥ and choice of contracts... stuff in ♦'s for the transfer, and suggest a club weakness, now to late to stop in 3♥ or 3♦, opener in theory might try 4♦ over this and could maybe play there. AT matchpoints, maybe 4♦ is best bid.

Still, playing 14 pt notrump, think i would be in 3NT likity split.
