Yes.

I hope you were West :)

Life would be simpler if North opened these hands 1, and East did not overcall pre-empts with a weak hand.

East was nuts, north is a matter of style, south and west seem reasonable.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

Hi,

1) 2H - oh well, not my style, but I have seen it,
not in partnership, and I would not do it myself,
but I have seen it
2) 2S - maybe someone should tell East, that one should
not bid a preempt over a preempt, at least, if the preempt
is min, given the colors the 2S weak two is better than the 2H
weak two
3) 4H is ok, what else?
3S is an option, and so is 4C, but if South cant be sure that
North understands 3S or 4C, than 4H is simply best
4) 4S is ok, what else?
5) 5H is ok as well, since South is on lead
there is no point in bidding 5C
6) 5S is ok, given the colors and the void
7) Pass is ok as well

Overall I dont agree with North and East, but would happily play
with South and West.

With kind regards
Marlowe

Surprised Han said south was reasonable, I think he was even worse than east.

1) over 2S, south has an easy 4N bid. This is what blackwood was invented for. If partner has no aces and no singleton club, the club hook rates to be on. Even if it was off, EW were probably going to bid and/or make 4S anyways, so you would have gotten to 5H anyways. Meanwhile if you hit an ace you will find a good slam, and you may preempt west at the same time. If you are bidding 4H it is to walk the dog and you must bid 5H and then 6H which leads me to my next point...

2) Over 5S, selling out is ridiculous. 6H must be a good save and might make, 5S might make, etc. You cannot EVER sell out to 5S with this south hand, it is just such an extreme view aiming at both 5S and 6H going down and even then you don't gain much. You cannot afford to lose the huge swings that passing will cause you to lose like defending 5S making when you are cold for 6H. Not to mention the opps will almost always bid 6S here if they are good for similar reasons.

West bid perfectly, 2H is not my style but is certainly within the realm of reasonable. East was pretty much nuts.

I'd give East an F, South a D, North a C, and West an A.
