It turns out that this is a part-score hand, so passing or opening 1 will get you a small plus by defending the opponent's contract.

The big winners are the pre-emptors. They will play in 2 or 3 doubled and make 9 tricks, as LHO has a normal takeout double and RHO has 4333 distribution with AKQx.

Flat in +870 was a common result.
