Why else did I bid 1nt and not pass one spade?

Partner implies a balanced hand for the pass of 1N, so he rates to have some diamond cards. Redouble is pointless, may lead to confusion, and we don't have a heart fit anyway.

That's good, because it's not obvious to me what redouble should mean.

Playing semi-forcing (or forcing) 1NT response, I think redouble is strong.

I bid 2D. As others have said, partner is likely to be balanced.
