We are Vuln vs not
Opps open a first seat preempt 3H.
3H-(p)-p-(3S)
p-(4S)-5H-????
Now, is pass by the 3S bidder forcing or not ?
Would it be different if we were:
......a. all white
......b. all red
......c. we are white and THEY are red

If RHO psyched his pass of 3♥, then sure, we may lose out. Psyches work sometimes.

This isn't a forcing pass by my usual 'rules' but there's no way 5H can have been bid to make, unless he's a real loony.

Lol. Frances, didn't you once post that for you pass is forcing when opponents bid inconsistently, unless opponents are world class?

It tempted a double, and made an overtrick.
The Italians at the other table had tried the same thing, but got doubled in 5C and made two overtricks. They were disappointed to lose imps, I imagine.

Still, I would greatly appreciate if you could specify whether your answer would be different if playing
a. all white
b. all red
c. white vs red
Thanks again !

Agreed. Vulnerability does not play a big role, since a pass (certainly forcing) would be a slam try.
I fail to understand why LHO did not find 4♥ over 3♥, and now is defending in 5♥. Either he is too smart for me, or the opposite applies.

To me, forcing pass isn't a convention, it's just common sense. If common sense says that they may bid to make, it's not a forcing pass situation, otherwise, it is.

Didn't Kantar try to codify these things a few years ago?
In any event, I think that a preempt followed by a sac creates a force on the partnership.
