Playing with random PD in the lobby.

Scoring: IMP

1 DBL 2 4
5 pass pass DBL//

While Norther doubled pd's 1 opening, I decided to hide my and show . Seems it's too good news for PD that he run to 5. Somehow frustrated, I had to admit it was a good contract.

The leading was a small . Finally I put K on the wrong side (my big fault), 5-1, that's not too bad score, just small negative imp. I can't complain about PD's decision (he had a hard time) not only because I messed up a makable contract but also for there could be a slam if no wastage in honor. However, it's very uncomfortable: we took -100 when we could made 500 or 800.

Any comments?

Scoring: IMP

5X -1
Leading x

1-DBL-2-4
5//

I don't want to comment on NS's bidding. They did what they want to.

2 is a reasonable bid, but once you believe that N has (as all the table believed ;) ) I would not even bid 2: pass and wait for further developments.
2 is not pre-emptive, and I do not see what particular advantage might bring.
It is quite likely that S bids 4 all the same (and it would be God's punishment for N's sins). At least 800.

What do you want from the guy? His pard bid 2D and he has 4 of them and a stiff. You can't always achieve the best result, especially when the opps are insane (you can take less inferences).

I don't understand bidding 2D. If I were going to bid with your hand I would bid 2H with the hopes of finding a heart game. I'm not sure what target bidding 2D is hoping for.

sounds reasonable.

Actually 5D was what I indeed want, interesting. Attractive quiz!

Ignoring such a good heart suit just because an opponents doubled is not a good idea imo.

Incidentally, I would bid 2, transfer to hearts :P.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

Playing transfers it's possible to transfer to diamonds and then bid hearts even. However I agree a 2D transfer would be better because A) if the opps bid over 2C(transfer to diamonds) you would not get to show the hearts. B ) If partner bid 2S over 2C you couldn't show the hearts. C) Even if you do get to show them, you will only be promising 4 of them.
