Scoring: IMP

East opens with 2 SP, pass, pass. What is best bid for south? Note; 3 SP would ask North to bid 3 NT with a SP stopper. Don't play leaping Michaels.

Not playing regular michaels or leaping michaels I have no clue what to bid. I guess I'll X planning to bid diamonds next. Then if he bids 3N i'll bid 4H.

May I please please play leaping michaels when I pick up this hand?

Else agree with Justin I guess.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

I am really glad this hand came up. I am sure I can convince partner now to play leaping Michaels.

:D 'Leaping Michaels' what a name! I've GOT to play it. How does it go?

On the hand in question, in the days before before LEAPING MICHAELS (sad, dreary and unfulfilled though they were) the miserable wretches made do with a takeout double and followed up partner's club bid with a diamond call.

What about in the not so old but not so new days, didn't people bid 3S michaels? :D

Hum.. yeah, what's up with this leaping michaels hype? A 3S michaels overcall does the job just fine :P

3 is not michael's, it asks for a stopper for 3NT. That's the problem.

Double, am somewhat limited here, so this is about all I can do.
I am little to strong for just 3, and my 5 card suit disappers.

I play some form of leaping Michaels, so 4 shows my hand. <_< Otherwise probably Dbl or start with 3 and keep rebidding s...

Thanks, Guys for your replies. Leaping Michaels is the superior system for this hand. 3 sp works if partner took it as Michaels. I agree that the best bid under the circumstances would be a X, followed by 3 DI, & over 4 CL, bid 4 H. The actual hand makes 4 C, 4 D, or 4 H. To our woe, our Swiss team opponents made it all the way to 6 C, making. Our team partners tried to cash two spades first before cashing the A & K of D. The IMP swing was too much to overcome by our other board wins.

Yeah if you don't play leaping michaels, at least be sensible enough to play michael's cue bid.

I would bid 3, adn when partner bids the 3NT bid 4 saying ooops, I forgot.
