That is almost exactly what I was thinking, 5323 and insufficient total trumps for four level. Yes the diamonds will not go far on defence, but maybe she is pulling punches because her three hearts are well honoured. I was also concerned that this is a much less aggressive field than I am used to and that many East probably failed to take a second bite at the cherry, allowing South a comfortable 3. Partner knows I don't bid 3 on much less than this and chose Pass. I decided (probably wrongly) that defending was the better chance to still score on our side.

Thanks for posting the problem and your over the shoulder thought process.

Btw if you thought most of the field would be in three diamonds making and you thought 3H was probably not making, should you just double or bid on?

Since in my version of the auction I'd already shown 5 clubs, with a solid diamond suit I think I'd bid 4 showing 6-5 with stellar diamonds and indifferent clubs

I thought many South would be allowed to bid 3 over 3, plus some East passing a rebid of 3 by North.
Unfortunately I have no data on that, due to one of the few bridge clubs still preferring not to use electronic scoring :(
I think I should bid on for various reasons, some already touched in this thread.
I don't see that either of us could double, even if both have some reason to expect to beat 3.
