Today, we are introducing GIBBO, the next evolution of GIB (Ginsberg’s Intelligent Bridgeplayer), bringing a noticeably stronger and more natural robot experience to your games.
This major update, powered by neural network technology, marks a significant leap forward in the development of BBO’s most popular bridge robot, GIB.
To mark the occasion, we are officially rebranding GIB as GIBBO. The new name reflects both the scale of this upgrade and the new technology behind it.
Read the full announcement here.
Feedback, comments, bug reports are always welcome in the BBO Robot Forum (please mention which game you were playing, when posting a hand).
GIB Upgrades Thread available with all GIB upgrades going back a few (many!) years. Changelog for V44 is posted here.

I was pleased to read this and the full announcement, despite thinking there was a bit of mystification about Basic Robot (it was hardly difficult to reverse the suppressions of simulation made to differentiate the two robots in the first place). Also, using a neural network to replace double dummy may well be equally effective, but I don't see how it improves the user experience. If the cost reduction is significant then I hope prices for Advanced robot will drop, or at least cease to rise astronomically.
I played a tournament with an Advanced GiB 2/1 today and failed to spot evident differences: did I jump the gun or was I just inattentive?
It made one discussable bid that cost a bottom (failing to open QT9 AJ83 AT32 84 in 4th seat unlike the rest of the field) and one unfixed system error (opening 1NT with a 5 card major and then missing the 5-3 fit despite Stayman) that cost another bottom.
I don't remember any evident improved leads or plays, but I wasn't actively checking.
Curious to hear the first experiences of others.
