I doubt that was related to the specific tournament. I've had (and reported here) similar problems in a variety of tournaments and on different devices and operating systems, but all on the same network link.
BBO is notoriously sensitive to network "slowness" these days, even though every other internet service works fine over the same link and the messages it exchanges are tiny and not particularly time sensitive (indeed, the same interface worked well on a 28 kbps dial up line over a decade ago).
What is even stranger is that the web client is capable of various states of disalignment with the server and the game, without realizing that anything is wrong. In one such state you can chat and hear the swish of the deal, but you are actually not responding as far as the other players at the table are concerned: usually what happens (in non 30s limited tournaments at least) is that you call the Director because someone does not play and *you* are told to play, or someone else calls the Director because you do not play. The best thing to do is to advise in chat that you are stuck and will close the connection and retry: when you get back in usually things will be ok, but not all free tournaments will reseat you automatically (so always make a note of Director's nickname or set them as friend).
