A typically logic-free "defence" by Frick and Frack, including: a shift to spades for no reason; a third-hand LOW play in spades for no reason; when the third-hand LOW play actually happens to win the trick, West does not return EITHER the heart suit that HE led OR the spade suit his "partner" led, because of COURSE he MUCH prefers to return the diamond suit DECLARER led; then he fails to duck the second club just in CASE declarer needs a dummy entry, and follows that by setting up the enemy's 13th spade.
AND look at the spot cards these malignant GIBBO oafs play: Playing standard signals, East follows to trick one with his 3 of hearts when the 4 would be more honest, descriptive, and helpful. At trick two, West, in following to the diamond trick declarer plays, tables the EIGHT from his holding of 865. At trick three, again in diamonds, West plays the FIVE from his remaining holding of 65. These dweebs, seemingly incapable of thought, observation, discipline, or partnership skills, basically appear to stupidly treat all spot cards as interchangeable equals.

We see here another example of the worthlessness of the GIBBO bidding system, a system that clearly seems to have been designed with a good deal of laziness and apathy.
As South, the only human in the game, I saw my partner North open 1NT in second seat. East passed.
I was looking at 21 HCP, so we were known to have a combined total of 36-38. Obviously, we would be bidding at least 6NT, and obviously everyone else also would. But maybe (?) we could make seven. Since this was the twelfth and final board of this game, I was (as usual) disgusted by various robotic atrocities that I had witnessed during the course of the day's play, and I didn't hugely care about the game at this point, but I was interested in seeing what these clowns played in a situation that I could not recall previously encountering in one of these robot games.
What would a 5NT response to the 1NT opener mean in the GIBBO system? I suppose that in the modern world there are a few different possibilities depending on partnership agreements, but ONE possibility would be that 5NT says "Pard, please bid 6NT with a minimum and 7NT with a maximum". If THAT happened to be the way the GIBBO system played the bid, I would give it a shot, not really caring whether it ended up working out well or not. But if that was NOT how the GIBBO system defined 5NT, I would merely leap directly to 6NT over pard's 1NT opener, as I suspect most players in this particular game would.
The definition of 5NT said...absolutely NOTHING! Nada! Bupkis! Rien!
I bid 6NT and made an overtrick when seven was cold thanks to a 3-3 enemy heart break. My score on the board was an almost totally flat average (53.6 %), as would be expected. North had a pancake flat 3-4-3-3 hand with a MINIMUM high-card count of 15, so it was NOT a good grand and we would NOT have bid it EVEN if 5NT had forced to 6 and invited 7, because pard, with his MINIMUM, would have signed off by bidding "only" 6NT (presumably, anyway, because he IS a GIBBO robot, and they are capable of doing the most AMAZINGLY stupid things!).
So, the fact that GIBBO never bothered to create a meaning or definition for 5NT in this auction (!!!) did not in any way affect our result or score on this board, BUT... the hand is still worth posting, because it exposes the laziness and sloppiness inherent in the creation of the GIBBO system. SURELY there SHOULD be a defined meaning - WHATEVER the system creator wants it to be - for 5NT. The fact that the system creator NEVER EVEN BOTHERED to create ANY meaning for 5NT here is quite an indictment...especially when added to MANY similar issues and situations in the pathetic GIBBO system.

Frequent contributor OMARHEUM has sent another hand. He writes "The GIB definition of 1NT says that it shows a 'likely stop in diamonds' but NS have bid three suits, so why is a 'stop' mentioned specifically and only in diamonds? Then, 2S 'promises' four but North has only three. Finally, West leads the queen of hearts and East overtakes, which is right if the queen is a singleton, but is that likely after West bid 1NT?"
My comments:
All true, OMAR. Additionally, the GIB definition of 3S is the type of pathetic, laughable gibberish that we have come to expect. Let's look, piece by piece, at this collection of nonsense:
"5+ clubs". South actually does...happen...by chance...to have five clubs, but I see no Earthly reason that the auction guarantees that he MUST have at least five.
"3- diamonds". I guess GIB says this because South did not make a support double over East's 1H - but I don't see WHY South MUST make a support double ANY time he has exactly three cards in pard's suit EVEN if he has a more important feature to show about his hand.
"5+ spades". Why the HELL, GIB, must he have at least five spades? Note that he does NOT have five here - he has "only" four...and there is (again!) no Earthly reason that the auction guarantees that he MUST have at least five. From where, GIB, do you continually pull this FREQUENTLY INCORRECT drivel that you fill your hopelessly incorrect definitions with?
"11+ HCP". Basically useless "information" that we already knew, but at least it's not utter nonsense like most of this typically pathetic GIB definition.
"3-card clubs". WHAT??? THREE-card clubs? THREE??? GIB, didn't you earlier...in this SAME definition (!), claim that it showed "5+ clubs"? What happened? Did a violent criminal just arrive and STEAL two or more of South's clubs at gunpoint? Or is it just that GIB definitions are so lazily and sloppily created that RIDICULOUSLY incorrect AND inconsistent BILGE like this can be written, and that quite obviously no one has ever even bothered to proofread?
"12-15 total points". To be ignored, as always, whether it happens to be right or wrong, because GIB has proven time and time again that it has no understanding whatsoever of "total" points.
GIB definitions are not just the worst BRIDGE definitions I have ever seen - they are the worst definitions of ANY kind that I have EVER seen ANYWHERE.

Yes, I, South, responded with "only" one (!) HCP. Yes, I obviously could have had more and usually would have more...but with that hand I would ALWAYS respond 1S to pard's 1D, as it is (despite the result on this random hand) LOSING bridge to pass with it.
But the purpose here, as always , is to bash GIB/GIBBO, so let's get down to business.
North, with his good 18 HCP, opens a normal 1D, probably expecting to next jump to 2NT. But after East passes, South responds 1S, and West butts in with 2C, North can no longer bid 2NT with a mere J7 dub in clubs. He makes a support double, which is reasonable.
EAST now...CUEBIDS 2S. You know what, Mr. North? I think he's showing some VALUES. In fact, his bid is defined as showing..."14+ HCP"!!! We later discover, as (sigh!) we SO often do that either the GIB definition is wrong or the GIBBO robot has ignored it (or maybe BOTH!), because he actually has "only" 12 HCP, but as far as YOU, Mr. North, are concerned, you expect him (East) to have at LEAST 14. Furthermore, East's bid is also defined as "forcing to 3NT"!!!
South, who HEARD your support double and KNOWS you have three spades,...PASSES. He does not double 2S. He does not bid 2NT. He does not bid any non-spade suit. He does not bid spades. He...PASSES. Granted, he could CERTAINLY pass and still have more than his measly and very unlikely SINGLE HCP, but he DOES pass. so he probably doesn't have MUCH.
WEST, who earlier ALREADY showed strength by overcalling 2C opposite a SILENT partner and in an auction where BOTH his NS opponents were bidding, now...also (!)...CUEBIDS! In his case, the cuebid is 3D, defined by GIB as showing "10-11 HCP" and being "forcing to 3NT"!!! Once again (SIGH,...AGAIN) we later discover that the definition is untrue and/or disrespected by the robot, since West has "only" 9 HCP, but as far as YOU, Mr. North, are concerned, you expect him (West) to have at LEAST 10.
North still has the same "good 18 points" that he began with, but they are a little LESS "good" NOW, since his club jack appears to be worthless. He (correctly, considering what the auction has TOLD him) PASSES.
East now...CUEBIDS...a SECOND (!) time (!), bidding THREE spades. You know, Mr. North, maybe by now you should be getting the idea that East really...DOES HAVE A GOOD HAND...and SO DOES WEST!
South...PASSES...AGAIN.
West bids 4C, and NOW...all of a sudden...North realizes that he has a good 18 HCP (well, except for that skinny little jack of clubs) that he has never shown. ALL he has shown so far is the strength to open 1D (which he could have done with a mere 11) and that he has exactly three spades. Being a cowardly GIBBO robot, he panics. "Oh no! What have I DONE? I must tell partner that I have a good hand. I absolutely MUST!" And so - overlooking the fact that his EW opponents supposedly have a combined total of at LEAST 24 points according to the GIB definitions, and that he HIMSELF has 18, he CHEERFULLY chirps out a bid of...FOUR SPADES. Note that, from HIS perspective, he, West, and East have a combined total of...FORTY-TWO (!) high-card points...even though there are ONLY forty in a deck! You know, MAYBE, that was a clue that his partner South didn't exactly have a LOT of points!
But even forgetting about points (because, as Marty Bergen has said, "points, schmoints"), if North is bidding 4S, maybe it would be nice if NS actually had some spade LENGTH. Now, in practice, South DOES have spade length: six of them, which is WHY he responded 1S with only one HCP. BUT...as far as NORTH knows, South could EASILY have as few as four spades. Don't forget that North already SHOWED, via his support double, that HE has three, but even armed with this knowledge South has never done anything other than PASS since his initial 1S response. If North was so DESPERATE to show his 18 HCP, MAYBE he should have attempted to do so BENEATH THE FOUR LEVEL so that he wouldn't now feel COMPELLED to do so with his HIGHLY speculative and amazingly stupid (in view of the auction) 4S bid!
4S was doubled and destroyed, as it deserved to be...but EVEN if it had been ice cold...EVEN if it had been a top...and EVEN if South had had TWENTY-FOUR HCP instead of ONE, North's bidding, and especially his ridiculous 4S call, would STILL have been bad. As Robert Blake's "Baretta" might have said, "And that's the name of THAT tune"!

I got a shared top on this board for making 3NT, so I'm not complaining, and North's bidding HAPPENED to work out well, but he invited with a hand on which the "normal" action would be to pass South's 1NT. And for what it's worth 3NT was certainly not a great contract. Just consider:
The hand was played a total of 65 times, ALWAYS by either North or South, and ALWAYS in no trump. 53 times in 3NT, 10 in 2NT, and 2 in 1NT.
(Only) NINE of the SIXTY-FIVE declarers took 9 tricks.
FORTY-THREE took (only) 8 tricks.
THIRTEEN took (a mere) 7 tricks.
Moral: Even though North's abnormal invitation HAPPENED to work out well at some tables, it FAILED to work out well at MOST...AND it was a highly questionable call regardless of result. As with MOST GIBBO actions, EVEN if he gets a GOOD result, it's probably just LUCKY!

More BAD bidding from North. Again, I was lucky enough to get a shared top in spite of the imbecile.
This board was played 48 times, and all 48 times (!) the contract was 4H played by South. That in itself is quite unusual.
At 7 tables, including mine, the contract "only" went down one.
At 37 tables, it went down two.
At 4 tables it went down three,
The problem is that we were IN 4H - too high, thanks to North's TYPICALLY ill=judged, unilateral, and (especially!) STUPID overbid of FOUR hearts. INVITING it would be fine and normal, but LEAPING to it is silly.

Typically imbecilic lead from West. His immediate predecessors, the truly execrable and totally unlamented GIB robots, were the absolutely worst opening leaders I have ever seen. Not too long ago, Lorserker made some minor impovements, so the GIBBO robots are now only the SECOND-worst opening leaders I have ever seen...but they STILL rot.

Yet another board where, thanks to the DISMAL "defence" by Johnny Halfwit and Donald J. Dumbo, I was fortunate enough to get a shared top of 98 % DESPITE the REMARKABLY stupid bidding by the C.R.E.T.I.N.O.U.S. GIBBO robot in the North. FOUR clubs? How UNBEARABLY stupid do you have to be to JUMP to FOUR clubs in THIS auction with THAT hand?

North does it again: a typically imbecilic GIBBO specialty: STUPIDLY and unilaterally making a wildly undisciplined, braindead LEAP to game instead of correctly merely inviting like a NORMAL player.
Although these GIBBO misfits deserve to be tarred and feathered, the feathers are likely unnecessary because - being complete BIRDBRAINS, the GIBBO dimwits probably ALREADY have feathers of their own.

Stupid lead by West on THIS auction. First, does he actually expect to find EAST with the diamond ace? Second, why is he DESPERATELY seeking a diamond ruff...when (again. on THIS auction) he probably HAS a NATURAL trump winner and will gain NOTHING even if he MAGICALLY receives that diamond ruff he is SO desperate to get. The perennial loser should just make the reasonable lead of the club king.
No wonder I have nothing but one hundred percent contempt for these disgustingly ignorant GIBBO rubes.
But it gets even funnier: After obtaining (with his NATURAL trump trick, please note!) the diamond ruff he SO desperately craved, the clown exits with a club.
"What's that you say? A club exit is correct and normal?" Well, yes, I completely agree...EXCEPT that the KING of clubs is the correct and normal play. This braying GIBBO jackass STUPIDLY (what else) exited with the THREE of clubs and was just (here we go again) LUCKY that it did not cost.
The ACBL has a Hall of Fame. If it ever decides to establish a Hall of SHAME, I will gladly be the first to nominate every single GIB and GIBBO robot! (And even the married ones too - ha, ha).

Not my table, but worth posting as an example of how TRULY "beautifully" these nauseating GIBBO lowlifes "defend". The collective "intelligence" of all GIBBO robots added together is probably less than that contained in one square inch of cement.
At trick 6, declarer South leads the 2 of diamonds towards dummy North's 754. Not a single diamond has been played before, so all 13 are still in the deck.
West, with AK10 tripleton, feels that he MUST play his...KING. Lord only knows WHY, but that's what the reject does. Then at trick seven, this absolute GENIUS shows us WHY he felt compelled to ENSURE that he, and not his "partner" East won the trick. It was apparently so that he could GUARANTEE that a SECOND heart would be led INTO declarer. He had earlier, at trick one. led the FIRST round of hearts INTO declarer. His partner had at that time played the KING and declarer had won the ace. Golly gee, I wonder who has the QUEEN (ha, ha). Anyway, I guess West was TERRIFIED that East might not have played a second heart, and oh my gosh, wouldn't that have been just TERRIBLE for the EW "defenders"? (Spoiler alert: No, it would NOT.)
Anyway, declarer wins the heart at trick seven - with his JACK yet, even though he is KNOWN to also hold the queen (and HAS been known to hold it since trick one). Maybe declarer is rubbing SALT into the wound in order to show West the TOTAL contempt he has for him and ALL GIBBO robots. If so, I heartily SALUTE this anonymous human South. Bravo, sir or Madam!
At trick eight, declarer South leads a second diamond, this time the three, towards dummy's remaining 75 doubleton. ASTONISHINGLY (for a braindead GIBBO robot), West manages to refrain from popping his ace. He plays the 10 from his remaining A10 dub.
East wins the queen. I said "East wins the queen". The...QUEEN. Hmm, golly gee, I wonder who has the...JACK? Wow, that's a REAL mystery for the ages, isn't it? A really, REALLY difficult problem, right? Well, we'll soon see. Stay tuned.
Having won his...QUEEN of diamonds, East now cashes his club 8, as declarer follows helplessly with the 6. All clubs are now gone, and the current trick score is 6 for NS to 3 for EW, Four tricks remain to be played. NS will need three of them to make their contract of 3NT, while EW will need two to beat it.
At trick 10, East plays the 10 of hearts and declarer wins the queen that he has been KNOWN to hold ever since trick one.
West is down to the 1095 of spades and the ace of diamonds. He pitches the...ACE OF DIAMONDS (!!!!!!!!!!) even though it is ONE HUNDRED PER CENT OBVIOUS that declarer SOUTH has the JACK, since East earlier would have WON THE JACK, NOT THE QUEEN, IF HE HAD BOTH!
Declarer takes ALL the remaining tricks, as ALL his diamonds are now high following West's ASTOUNDINGLY STUPID discard of the diamond ace. Declarer makes an OVERTRICK in 3NT, when if West had managed to find the TREMENDOUSLY DIFFICULT (ha, HA, HA!) play of...not pitching his diamond ace (!), the contract would have been DOWN ONE.
I would be surprised if there is even a RAW BEGINNER...anywhere...who would have been as woeful on this hand as "Ginsberg's 'Intelligent' (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Bridgeplayer" (sic!) was! These GIB/GIBBO fleabrains are the worst, the ABSOLUTE worst! They are the pits. They are the lowest of the low, the worst of the worst. They are pathetic, hopeless, and useless. They are an embarrassment to bridge. They are a worldwide laughingstock, and they are most definitely NOT "intelligent".

First question: Why, with four spades and three hearts, is North bidding three HEARTS rather than three SPADES?
Second question: Why are GIBBO robots so completely wretched at anything and everything pertaining to bridge?
