Perhaps a little aggressive with this hand but it had me wondering, why not show the other 2 suits.

It could be diamonds only. (Or would 2♦ the previous round be to play? I think it should be, but I am a voice in the wilderness.)

2♦ to play would work

X pick a red suit
Are you sure double is takeout not penalty?
Is your partner sure?
Is playing it as
penalty better on this auction?
Reminds me of a somewhat similar auction from past Monday at club with first time partner.
I doubled RHO in 3c as penalty
Passed back to RHO who bids 3H
I double again
Except this time partner pulls my penalty double and puts us in a failing contract.

X - T/O, and just do it.
As it is, even if p passes and given your huge defensive assets it makes, ... 2CX= is only 180,
you basically need a 50% chance to get it down.
Our rule is, if T/O still makes sense, it is T/O. And it makes sense as long as there are at least
two suits left to choose from and the X occurred at a low level.
In the given seq. 2D should be natural, common agreement set made it impossible to show diamonds
at the 2 level earlier, and a 2C would show inv. values .. pass did not deny values short of inv.
strength.
With kind regards
Marlowe
