When I look at the NABC Results on ACBL Live, if the player is from the USA or the 51st State, their City and State are included.
For all the other players their location is blank.

Is it really too difficult to include details for all competitors in this international competition?

Are you sure that the dividing line here is based on country of residence rather than whether someone is an ACBL member?

I suspect that there is strong correlation here and I can come up with some very plausible explanations regarding the later and less about the former

Yes, obviously the players without city/state are not ACBL members.
What information is collected on entries? Couldn’t a players country be included, for the premier events at least
.
Does the NABC have any pre registration?

They post the information the ACBL has.

A number of pros got their ACBL number years ago at their first NABC, didn't put in full address and city and etc, because it was two minutes to game time and they needed a number; and it never got cleared up. It's not like they read the bulletin (and you can get it online now, and we likely weren't mailing it to Riga or Wroclaw anyway).

Some, they don't put the information in when registering, so all we can do is "NL" (rock, or dike, or mountain? who knows?) or "IT" (to give two examples from this year for me. Luckily I got to talk to both of them around the game and learned "Just a Bit" more.

Because we have a system from the 1970s (that was coded on a system from the 1950s), there are a number of "fixed-length" fields that can't be dealt with. So if you happen to be a Martínez González, or live in Dollard-des-Ormaux, PQ, (or are an O'Brian(*) or a d'Alembert or a de la Soul, for other reasons), sorry.

And then there are issues with "it's a mailing address." Witness about 30% of players in Mexico (some of whom are Canadian) who come from a tiny little town in Tejas. I wonder if anyone's looked up all the club games, and showed up in Laredo wondering where the Bridge club is!

(*) Or an O'MalleyO'ConnellO'CarrollO'ReillyO'BrianO'Sullivan (who is also Italian), I guess :-)

I'm sure all countries in the world have a formal postal address format, but the ACBL is not alone in struggling with the address of aliens. My ACBL display only shows the post town of my address, my brother's only shows his post code.

And I cannot put my telephone number into the ACBL system, even though there are more international standards in this area.
