There is less pressure to open slightly below system hands with S that can overcall easier than H, e.g., should opps bid the other major.

At least, this one has good honors working together and nice intermediaries.

I play 5CM / strong NT so can’t really asses the implications on the follow up sequence - showing the 5th S, why we didn’t open 1NT with a 5332, etc.

No.

If I am forced have to open, I would go with 2S.
The problem with opening is, that the only response you like to hear from partner
is 1NT or a raise, anything else will make you feel uncomfortable.
With kind regards

This really depends on system and partnership agreement.

I wouldn't want to open this with a relatively unknown partner playing 2/1, but this is a not even borderline opening hand for most Precision partnerships.

Playing that 1X-2Y-2X is nonforcing gives you more latitude to open this hand.

Playing 2/1 I would open 1S with you or anyone else, hoping to finish in the obvious sweet spot of 3NT.
I agree that it is too balanced for 2S.

I wouldn't normally open a hand like this but I decided to open 1 given it was a good suit and all the honor cards are working together. I am not embarassed to rebid the spades if I get a 2/1 response from partner (which would be non forcing). The full deal:

The board had only been played one other time so the bottom we got arguably doesn't mean anything, but at the other table they didn't open on my hand and they ended up in 2NT(E)* which goes one off. 2 at our table made +1.

*My guess is 1 (1) 1NT (P); 2NT AP.
