Ekren a weak 2 opening from the cold country of north Europe
i think the original have 5-10 point and the bid was 2
4+and 4+ the SPREAD version is even more weak
4+ and 4+ 0-7(8) HCP 8 is for balanced hand
with more point you open 1
bad example

south open with 2
west pass
north don't like and corect to 2
East pass
east lead A of and K of and give his partner a ruff
West ruff and cash the Ace of
2 +1 made

In the game of bridge, Ekren refers to a preemptive opening of 2♦ defined as 4-4, 4-5, 5-4 or 5-5 in the majors and 3-10 high card points. This conventional preempt was designed by Bjørn Olav Ekren from Norway and is an example of the modern style of highly aggressive preemptive bidding.

this is an example of ekren
2 4+ and 4+ 0-7(8) HCP
2NT minors 4+and 4+ 13+ HCP
(A DOUBLE will show balanced with 3+ 16+ {penality optional})
North pass
east bid 3 preference

PLAN your play
South lead the J

Ekren didn't like using 2!H to show the majors. I doubt that he'd like seeing this 2!H bid described as Ekrens.

My impression is that this (broad) class of Preempts is typically described as "assumed fit"

Yep - 2 is Ekren; 2 is 'Ekren' style and supposedly harder to play against
