We were registered well in advance of a game that started at 11:30. We never were admitted to the game. Just sat here and waited and waited and of course the game is going on without us. What’s up with that? Will we get our money back? Or did they never take it? Shouldn’t they contact us if we were an odd-numbered partnership and they had no table for us? We wasted our morning waiting for this game!

For live tournaments (as opposed to daylongs and challenges) the entry fee is charged when you're seated for round 1. If you were never seated, you don't get charged.
I checked our logs, and it says you weren't logged in when the tourney started. You logged in at 11:00 and got disconnected at 11:01.
Unfortunately, when you get disconnected due to network problems, the application doesn't always show it (this is a known problem). It's best to try chatting with partner shortly before the game starts. If you're not connected, you'll get an error and be sent back to the login screen.
