I know it might seem strange but I thought you had to bid the suit below the singleton so resorting to 4 card majors I open 1 heart

Some people do, some don't, we open 1♦, but we're unusual in that we play 4M but open 1♦ with a 3442 strong no trump also. We don't mind occasionally admitting to a 5th card in a minor we don't possess, but don't like doing that with a major

Just looking again. Favorable vulnerability maybe open 2C
Then what happens. What does partner have - 2D waiting or 2S
etc

How will you bid this after opening 2♣ ?
We would typically bid 2♦ to keep out of the way of partner.
2♦ denies A or K
It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare, it is because we do not dare that they are difficult.
