The good news is that PBF had the courage to suspend him, even if only for 3 months (seems minimal considering the offence and his status).
That means WBF and NBOs will respect the verdict.
As to BBO, I trust they will take action.
But more important, should a yellow be able to kibitz a tournament he is competing in?
I understand that different nicks may be involved, but even that should be manageable in some way.

Yes.

Yellows are helpful people and need extra privileges to do their job and I'm sure they've been even more busy over the last year. Of course most forum regulars do not come across them often because we know how many things work, but a lot of BBO members need them. But it is a position of trust and you don't want to make their life more difficult just because one yellow has abused this trust.

And he was exposed.

I don't work for BBO and any advice is based on my BBO experience over the decades

When I first joined BBO I was helped by a yellow, and he's still on my friends list. No desire whatsoever to make his life more difficult. What I was suggesting is that BBO's mechanisms should be able to distinguish between activities that are normal for a yellow (or tournament or match creator) and activities that could represent an abuse or conflict of interest, and at least ask confirm and keep a log in these cases.

This is normal best practices in any other field of activity, I fail to see why it should not be in place here. For instance, as a director within my NBO I have a right to download hands that will be played in future f2f tournaments, but only those that I am entitled to direct - and when I do so it is logged and there is also an automatic check that I do actually direct that tournament. So do your job freely, but be aware that you are monitored automatically for transgressions.
