Do you have an agreement about what the double showed? I would play it as take-out (say AJxxx KJx x AQxx), but 2H-1 suggest that this was not partner's hand. If you play it as penalty, why didn't you pass?

I think you did well. If partner had a penalty Dbl ready, he should pass and trust his partner to make a 'takeout' Dbl.

Hi,

I think your bidding was reasonable,
but I would have probably bid 2S, if
uncertain what partners Double means.

The oldfashioned meaning would have been
penalty, partner already spoke and showed
pos. values, the double was made by someone
sitting "above" the bidder.
A more common meaning would be optional
suggesting a penalty double, showing add. values,
but not necessarily a trump stack.
Since you have maximum values you could pass.

In "standard" bidding (is there any ?? ), your pard's 2nd round double is not strictly takeout nor penalty.

It shows "cards": it means "Pard I was not strong enough to double then bid a suit, but I have a max for my overcall".

This maximum should be agreed with pard, but should be, say (13+)14-16 or so.

Now with your hand, a penalty pass might be an option if pard had something, but, all in all, pass does not look appealing to me, so I'd have invited with 2NT:
all your 10 hcp are working+ a 5 card suit.
If pard has bid correctly, 2NT should be fine and your only worry would be that you might collect more by defending 2D doubled rather than by playing any number of NT.

Opposite your pard's double, 2H is an underbid: pard will expect you to have some 7-8/9 hcp with long hearts, no spades tolerance (similar to when pard opens 1S and you respond 1NT then bid 2H), and pass with most game going hands.

This is difficult with an unknown partner. You have a maximum for your 1NT (especially if 1NT is non-forcing). I would bid 3♦ I think. (At least if if I was told that 3NT is the correct contract!)

You bid 1NT over 1♠ from your p, showing at least 6 hcp and no ♠ fit.
You correct his double to ♥ showing a minimum hand.
So 1NT is a very solid bid from your side.
I think your hand is strong enough to bid 2♥ immeditely.
After all it is a 5card suit, though not a good one. You have 2♠ if partner repeats his ♠.
Your RHO passed, depending on the system opps play, he holds less than 8 hcp or even less than 6 hcp.
So there ist a good chance your side hold the majoraty of the points.
Entering the 2 level you show a hand that is much closer to your true strength.
Partners dbl is a "do somethng smart p, I'm strong" dbl. Not clearly t/o and not penalty. Obliously he has got only 5♠'s and a hand that does not have the shape for a dbl in second hand, I'd expect something like 5332 and at least 15 hcp.
I don't think your p expected a ♦ stopper for your 1NT bid so he could not raise NT.
