Advanced robots, IMPs.

I'm not sure if the bid is wrong or the description is wrong, but it doesn't seem to me like it's good to show 14-16 HCP when you only have 10. Then I have 23 so I think we have 37-39 which I figure is good enough for 7NT but we only had 33 since the description was off by that much.

Could it be that 6NT was based on simulation, while opener took it by the description?
Good example for the robot-developers to look into....

Hi
Really good example. Now let's make some analysis to look into the reasons.
I checked and replayed it ,I found several issues.

- See AyunuS's traveller.

Posted Image

First issue : It should say almost of human have deviated from the track, relying on their feelings and guess to make a final contract, so there is no technical content !
Here is a classic example :

6nt says 27-29Hcp, obviously such definition is rediculous.

Second issue : I also found a very strange definition on responder's 3nt.

3nt says " 5+,4-5,5-,11-hcp,6+8421 hcp in ,8+TPs".

Third issue : the main issue should come from Gib CC instead of programming.
- See normal Gibs sequences :

Result : 3NT+2
After 3, responder has no way to make quantitive since here 4nt have used for trumph RKCB, it causes responder to misrepresent any next bidding description if responder wanna to decide next auction.

Fourth issue : Gibs playing in the 6 hands is very worse, while Gib is a declarer, only got 11 tricks. In fact, it is very easy to get 12 tricks, see my playing.

At Marthar's table, she's playing with an older version of GIB; this is clear because it uses the 8421 method of explaining suit strengths. If martyr555 is using the basic version then maybe Stefan's question about versions is relevant; maybe advanced GIB is simulating when he has a perfectly good by-the-book bid to make. In the human world, we call this "masterminding".

I have been wondering what " an older version of GIB " is.
You meant that Marthar plays with Gibs at the old version BBO?
Would you tell me ?
Thanks.

There are 4 versions of GIB floating out there.

a. The GIB-product-on-a-CD
This is a standalone desktop program and hasn't been updated in a while

b. The GIB that is distributed with the older Windows version of BBO
Likewise. Tho it is somewhat more up to date, it isn't "current"

c. The "advanced" bot that we use in tournaments and bot rentals and when you rent a bot as a partner in a pair game (there, I like to call it the "pro bot" for no good reason)

d. The "basic" bot that we use in MSN Bridge, Partnership bidding, bot rentals , the solitaire games (web4 and Video Bridge) , and their standalone web counterparts on our home page as well as in the mobile version when you play anonymously

Note the timestamp on Uday's explanation. The one described as b. above is now very definitely not current.

Oh, I got it.
I know MSN game, but I'm surprised that the folks who play old version Gib don't know the fact that the current Gibs are far more than old robot? do not want to use it?

Thanks to you for your good reply.

My suggestion - be conservative after having opened 2C. GIB is a bit overly aggressive in these auctions. And bid your own hand. You have no part of a 7NT bid with a human partner, and less so with GIB.
