North is dealer, you are east and hold: 982,54,K82,AKJ94

Bidding goes 1C-P-1H-P-1S-P-1NT-P-P-P
Partner leads the Q and you see:

Scoring: Matchpoints

How do you defend?

i play the 2, requesting the obvious switch () OR i overtake, lead the K, and return the 8

I was kibitzing this hand, East played the diamond 2 and West continued diamonds!

Why give West the chance to go wrong?

Overtake, cash high club and lead diamond 8. Are there some hands where this defense fails while the discouraging diamond at first trick works?

Found it to be an interesting example of "make life easy for partner" deal.

pard has led from QJx of diamonds (easily possible on this auction) and that defense wont work too well.
