Hi, I would like comments on all aspects of this hand please.

particulary the first card I played, I had a K club lead, what do you think was wrong with my thinking , I thought I would control the club suit and get another lead

I will attach link to file shortly when I remeber how o do it (

I think this is makeable if I play it correctly.

Maybe I'm feeling timid today or just resulting, but I might have opened this 1 depending on the opps. Regardless, I would have passed 3. Those red suits are just telling me no.

I have never been convinced about the benefits of Stayman on a GF balanced hand (especially where you have an honour in every suit), so I prefer a direct 3NT on the North hand.

To show a profit at IMPS the major suit contract must make two tricks more than NT, so the gains are quite rare. But the losses are many - you give away information about the hidden hand, you give fourth hand the chance to make a lead directing double or bid, you may find a fit and yet run into bad breaks (as happened here).

I don't believe 4 can be made against best defense. If you take the Ace on the first trick and don't draw all the trumps then you will suffer a ruff. If you do draw all the trumps then you will end up with a fourth loser yourself as you can no longer ruff it!

With so many HCP in outside suits, S could rebid 3nt over 3s and then be able to "transfer all blame" to partner for final decision and take full credit for any success at the bar after session.

Pretty unlucky.

I like the club duck; nice play.

ducking the club is pretty clear. Bad luck. you gain when clubs are 4-2 (or 3-3). As for the bidding, don't be discouraged. It's a filthy game, but that's life. I would not have even invited with north hand, would have just gone. If you are playing in a match against any expert pair they will bid this one too.
