Just one more example of GIB having a phobia about bidding NT.

I should have had a 4th Diamond for the X. So bite me. I don't see its absence having any bearing on developments.
I should also have chosen 3N or 4C over the 3S cue, either of which would have turned out better, although 3N would have been a major guess.

And that is really the point of the post. Possibly 2N by North over the X would have been Lebensohl? I personally think that it should be natural in this situation.
But even if 2N is artificial, given that 3S is forcing, I think that 3N is a more practical choice.

I suspect that the lack of Club guard may have been influential in its decision not to try 3N. Even so I think it is wrong.

Passing the double would have worked out well here, and given that it is MP and the alternative is committing to the 4 level in a misfit, perhaps not such a bad least of evils.

It would be nice if the description of 3 gave some sort of clue as to North's shape or features. Can we presume it shows 3-? A spade stopper?
