I have been thinking, about the bidding 1-2 and 1-2. In standard when one plays a nebulous diamond(2+) Is it worth to use both 2m responses as natural? Both of them seem a bit old-fashioned(at least the way i play them now)-with showing 5+ in suit and at least invitational strength.
I remember reading Andrew Grumpez blog, where he suggested a bid of 2 after 1 to be balanced and invitational hand. The benefits would be that there is chance to SO at the 2nd level.
I was thinking of maybe using the 2 bid as such kind of a bid - after it you can find loads of 4-3 fits + it acts somewhat like Stayman, so it is possible to bid it with 4 card majors. The 2 bid can be used as a reversed Flannery with less the game going hands.
This leaves with the problem - what to do with minor suited hands. The balanced invitational hands can bid 2, any GF hand bids 1, this leaves me with the unbalanced invitational hands, which i have not solved yet. Although as there seems to be room because of all the 2NT bids open, i think it can be squeezed somewhere.
Any thoughts about the idea, can it work or not?

Our 1D is 0+ diamonds and can be both minors,4M/6D, bal,or other unbal without a 6cd-minor. We need 2m to be natural and GI+

1D responses...
.....1H-natural or GF balanced
.....2C-GI+ 5+C or Gf both minors (diamonds maybe longer)
.....2D-GI+ 5+D
.....2H-reverse Flannery
.....2S-both minors, looking for best part score
.....2N-GI, no 5-cd minor (i.e. 4/3 or 4/4 minors)

We found that 2C has room to handle all the GF hands with both minors. Typically opener tries to stay out of the way by rebidding the first step...which for us promises 2+ of opener's minor.

1D-2C,
.....2D-2H-GF both minors
...............2S-relays
....................2N-4D/5C
....................3C-5D/5C
....................3D-1354
....................3H-2254
....................3S-3154
..........2S-GI, 5+C
..........2N-GI, 4D/5C
..........3C-GF-6C bal
..........3D-GF, 1336
..........3H-GF, 3136
..........3S-GF, 3315

1D-2D
.....2H-2S-GI, 5+D
...........2N-GI, 5D/4C
...........3C-GF-6D bal
...........3D-GF,1363
...........3H-GF, 3163
...........3S-GF, 3361

If opener makes other than a single step rebid, he's trying to describe his own (usually) unbalanced distribution. For us, 2N and 3N rebids show shortness in responder's minor and minimum or maximums. A 3C rebid promises a maximum balanced hand with 4+ trump...which leaves responder 3D, 3H, and 3S rebids to show high, middle, and lower shortness before 3N has been passed.

We use 1D-2C, 2H to show our 6D/4M hands and

1D-2m, 2S show unbalanced hands, minimums with 4-cd support and shortness. Responder may ask the shortness.

Finally 1D-2m, 3D, 3H, and 3S are maximum splinters.

Good luck.
