South doesn't have his 3♠ bid, and he shouldn't pass a cuebid, but... What's up with the 8-11 8421HCP explanations? And the 5♣ cue bid? Wouldn't this have been a good time for RKC?

Probably, but 4NT followed by 5♥ won't likely solve hearts losers danger. Could be ♦+♠.

5♣ looks like last try and if player bids 5♥, GIB would be happy to bid 6♥. And over 5♦ could bid 5♠ so still one more chance if opener has ♥+♦ to push once more.
