1C and 2C. Looks pretty obvious - too many defensive values for a pre-empt, nowhere near the strength for a strong club.

I can agree with the bids, but .. defensive values?

With a 6th club, I will open 1♣. I don't particularly like it. A very loud voice in my head is saying, "DONT", because it has no defense, and has short majors.
I tell that voice to STFU because 3N is very possible with these types of hands, and it will be difficult to catch up later.
Playing Precision, isn't this the most obvious 2♣ ever?

Despite the assumption, contained in the OP, that this hand is a clear opening....I pass in a std method. I'll open 2♣ playing a big club method, because it shows my clubs, limits my hand, and preeempts the opponents, while a natural 1♣ does none....not one...of those things.
Wtf happened to the idea that an opening bid promised quick tricks and/or defence (often the same thing)? And who on earth thinks this is a good 11 count? Oh, I forgot: Q=2, J=1.
And we sure have our share of 1's and 2's.

Perhaps another time, we can debate "defensive values" as they relate to opening 1-bids, passes, and preempts. For now, IMO defensive values and quick tricks are two entirely different things (Quick tricks can be defensive values, but defensive values are not just quick tricks).
1C seems just fine here, with a partner who doesn't bounce to game on invitational hands opposite today's opening bids. It also happens to be a 5-loser hand with 3 nice ten's.

Haha just kidding but come on just try it when you're playin for fun and see what happens, the world does not fall apart
One other thing I was thinking of recently, I get the feeling that the partners of people who open quite sound and on very few hands that have no defense still don't start ripping the opponents. It seems like those people are just conservative in general. Maybe this is false, and you and your partners rip the opps a lot after opening 1 of a minor, but if that is not true then I think that removes a huge downside of opening hands that are worth it offensively but not defensively.
