How would you bid this 2 loser hand after a 3 opening? I intended my (undiscussed) 4NT as unusual, showing a strong hand with diamonds and hearts. My partner thought it was blackwood, so showed his 2 aces with 5, which I almost passed.

Tough one. I could say that 4C would have obviously been Gerber, but some have not read the recent thread ;)

Partner has two aces and we just bid 6? Shouldn't he move on?

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

LOL, you mean it as a joke, but when his partner interprets 4NT as Blacky, then he might actually interpret 4 as G*****...

What would 4, 5, 5NT,... mean to your partner?

If that is true, why didn't he just bid 7NT over 4NT? ;)

4C=majors
5C=good question.
5N=good question.

Looks like your post asked me what those bids would mean to my partner, but sorry. If I thought I had a good solution to OP's situation I would have done more than just make jokes.

Edit: actually, after looking at the OP hand which will come up again after I have passed from this world, I thought about extending super-Gerber so an immediate 5C would apply in this situation, but nah.

Although I think 4NT should be Ace-asking, let's say you have a "Leaping Michaels" system over 3-level preempts....
such as 4H! = this major and the other minor ( ).
Now partner may just go RKC since he has a fit and 2 bullets.

If he then thought his hand was good enough to ask for the Q , you might assume it guaranteed all the other key cards which would make it easy to bid 7NT.
[ If a trump Q-ask does not guarantee all the other key cards, then you can't make the 7NT leap ] .

Funnily enough, this hand was still a top for us - 3 pairs bid 4, one defended 5x, and the other stopped in 3. But I'd have liked to be able to bid it with rather less guesswork!

I guess you could mutter a raise of 6 to 7, but after a pree caution usually pays.
