I really enjoyed the Match, the Vugraph, and the voice commentary.

One observation by people with whom I discussed it was that one particular pair seems to be much more in-focus when they are competing IRL. Does anyone share this opinion?

My main observation was that Joe Grue was hilarious as a commentator. He was as natural as can be. At times 5 commentators was a bit too much, but overall I thought that this was the most enjoyable vugraph I have ever seen and I think this has a lot of future. Great work BBO! (and bridgewinners!)

Which badly playing pair were you referring to? I had to leave during the second set, it was late here.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

Fellow BBO posters who do not know which pair I meant, will by extention not share my opinion; not posting the name of the pair was intentional, for that reason.

"Playing badly" would not be my choice of words ---much too judgemental for my taste. But, I know I lose concentration on-line more often than IRL; and thought that might be what happened on some hands during the match.

I only saw the first two sets but have to agree with Han that the star was the commentary team on the first set. Fred, Gavin and Kit provided an informative and interesting commentary during the second set, but it lacked the enthusiasm, bravado and upbeat tempo of Joe Grue, Bobby "Barry While" Levin and Steve Weinstein.

They also talked a lot about the bridge. Joe explained his philosophy on opening in third seat and then was able to display it during the second set. Bobby and Steve taunted Roland at every opportunity with a reasoned analysis about how Flannery would have improved the auction. And it was also interesting to hear them, and Kit, discuss how to play a simple (or not so simple) suit combination.

It was great fun and my only complaint is that none of them will be available to commentate during the Bermuda Bowl.

Bobby's voice is super conducive to the voice narration, He, Gavin, and Fred were the stars, IMO. But, the equipment was mostly at fault for the others ---especially Kit.

Is there any chance of the lin files for this being placed on the Vugraph archives site? The ones that are there appear to be empty unless I am doing something very wrong. Due to my time zone I was starting work on Monday morning almost exactly when set 1 kicked off so I missed the whole thing.

Still decidedly intermediate - don't take my guesses as authoritative.

Yeah I did watch some of that but I like an interface where I can click a button and force Joel to make a bid or play immediately.

You can find the hands by going to myhands, click on list of tournaments, click on team games, search for USA1. There are three segments. NOTE this search will work only for a day or two more. Alternatively, go to myhands, search for a player in each of the segments... and look for them.

Doh - didn't think of using myhands. Thanks.

lol 2 hilarious comments so far.

Dunno if Joe and I are the pair that is considered less focused online than irl, to me that is standard though, especially on a Sunday during football. Sorry if this was considered bad or whatever, I still tried hard, trust me when I say there was a lot of pride on the line for both teams, it's just harder when you're at home with a ton of distractions.

Yes. If anything, I thought Grall was the best pair by a wide margin.
