First hand. No Lebensohl involved here so partner isn't promising anything. What do you fancy here?

Second hand. What say you this time?

1. I think the hand deserves another try. Yes we might even be down in 4 or 5 but I'm bidding 4, which hopefully is a cue-bid.
2. I'd double the pre-empt. I'd bid diamonds over spades.

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

1-5, if we are lucky we make it.

2-5 for the sake of A-A-K, or i would bid 4.

5D on the first hand, partner is allowed to have something.

X on the 2nd one, if partner passes or bids 3N I will be happy, if he bids spades I will go back to diamonds.

Well, I bid exactly as Justin did (which I guess is a good sign)

On the first hand, LHO now bid 5S which gets passed back to you. If it helps, LHO is Nick Sandqvist.

On the second, I doubled and partner bid 3S. Presumably you now bid 4D? Or 5D?

I also considered this option, to be able to play 3NT. My concern was, i wasnt sure how pd will take this DBL and then bidding . Especially if he bids 4 instead of 3. Is my 5 showing ? Or is it some sort of cue ?

I cant answer these questions for everyone, all i know is, if i make this bid which i am not sure what it means myself without an agreement, would put pd into tank. That i am sure. Now in the forums we may sit and think and find a logical explenation why it should be natural or why not, but at the table i wouldnt take this risk. I am not the happiest man with my 5 bid either. But i know if 3 preempt is a legit one, this will not be a disaster score in MP or IMP pairs.

But if we play a 4-2 fit at some level, or bid too high just to tell pd is not our suit, this would be hard to recover. I maybe wrong overall, but these concerns made me skip DBL.

Doubling 3H does not promise 4 spades. It is too high of a level to play that, it will restrict your bidding too much when you don't have 4 spades.

I would just bid 4D over 3S. I have 2 small hearts, my hand is not that great, and I have shown values. 11 is a lot of tricks to take. Though perhaps some would argue 4D is forcing I don't like to play it that way even though it is probably reasonable.
