4NT 2-suited or 5NT pick a slam. Please add these to your poll (new function, great!) B)

4NT is probably better, if partner bids 5 we can bid 6 showing extra long and exactly 4.

I bought 4, thinking it should garantee 4-5 and a max pass.

partner bid 5.

Does it show a minimum take-out dbl with longer ?

I thought 4NT would show the minors (no 4) and 5 a mini take-out with 4-5. So 5 should be one suited, not per se very strong bcs could just hope for a stop.

Anyway, I continued with 5NT to let p choose a minor. It went 6 end.

I would bid 4 and hope - for a fit and that I bid enough.

There are many decent takeout doubles where slam has no play.

4 and 5 both seem reasonable to me, I don't have very strong feelings about either, spade shortness makes me think partner could be 3451 or 3343 so either can be very wrong. I'd go with 4 wich is lower, and it is better than partner bidding 5 over 5.
