No. I made up the notation because the "x" on my keyboard didn't work. It's working now so I don't need it anymore.

Just think - we could have avoided all this simply by clubbing together to buy him a new keyboard.

as you live closest to him why don't you chunnel one over to him and try not to break it when you hit him on the head with it :)

I don't like this notation at all because it overlaps with showing your exact cards.

Depends if you can assume that you have 13 cards. If you can, it is unambiguous that
AKQJ
AKQJ
AKQJ
2
is normal notation, while
AKQJ
AKQJ
AKQ
2
is hanp notation.

Though this might sound silly, it's counterintuitive to me (to the point of being ridiculous) to have to count the cards in an example hand to realize what notation is being used. Like having to read an entire sentence before you know what language you just read.

Also sometimes you just want to give an example of one suit, not an entire hand.

It also saves us from the Hog's opinion, worth a couple of additional trees of frustration.

Just because I frequently point out your stupidities is no need to get shirty.

I'm not usually a big fan of 5m openings but this looks like one to me.

Bet I'm slightly closer. Wouldn't waste a good keyboard though.

Anyhow, this is 5 for me. Sure we've got opening values and some clubs as well - but - nine times out of ten they're competing strongly in a major - so I reckon we rate to have a better end result just blasting.

5 for me.

You can open it 1D if you want to, but I really don't care to hear about who has which major suit. I'll just tell partner right now how many tricks I have and which suit I want to be trump.
